Title: An Invitation To Worship God
(Psalm 95 : 1-11) Come,let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods . In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him.The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if only you would hear his voice,
“Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they had seen what I did.For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,and they have not known my ways.’So I declared on oath in my anger,They shall never enter my rest.’”
The title of this devotional says: Invitation to worship God. We all know that God is the creator of the earth and everything in it, including me and you. Most of the time we don’t know that we should give Him gratitude, we don’t know that we should give Him the honor that is due to Him. So many people believe in different types of gods, and when they worship those gods they think that those gods are servants of the most high God, so they will think God is being honored too. Any other god we worship outside the God who created heaven and the earth, that is idolatry.
There is only one true God. His name is Jehovah, mighty one is battle, Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the creator of heaven and earth. All these things you see on the earth, no one helped Him to create them, no one gave Him suggestions on how to put everything together, so He is the only God. So if you are worshiping any other God you are missing the point. He is called the beginning and the end because He created us, when we were coming to the world , He sent us, when we leave the earth we are going to meet Him again. The moment we leave the earth we are going to stand before Him to answer how we have lived our lives on earth, we will be going to give account of our lives to Him. ( 2 Corinthians 5:10)
We are created to worship God, we are His children. He deserves our worship everyday. Unfortunately, some of us deny our God that worship, some of us don’t even believe in God, some people think that there is a supernatural power, but don’t know what that is. He is the only God who gives life, He gives all the good gifts, but the devil is the one bringing all the sufferings and pain we experience today. (John 10:10) The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
He is all and all for us. He desires our hearts, our worship, He desires to speak to us through His word, as He also desires to listen to us speaking to Him. Let us not deny God worship and adoration that is always due to Him. He delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians, still they did not see anything to be thankful for. They groaned and murmured , their complaining went beyond being thirsty, they challenged Moses and his leadership, doubting God’s provision.
Some of the things that make us not to receive the blessings God has promised us are not having a grateful heart, not worshiping Him as our God , doubts, unbelief, lack of submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit. We are too busy to have time for God, very busy to give Him heart of worship and appreciation. Let us return to the true worship to our God, He promised us eternal rest when we give Him our worship and make Him first in our lives. Worshiping God has so much benefit and I pray we all benefit by getting closer to the Lord in Jesus name.
Prayers: Oh God of heaven, take all my worship and adoration in Jesus name. Without you there is no other God. You alone is worthy of my praise. Take all the glory Lord. Help me to stay strong in you , come into my life and take pre -eminence in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
