Title: Allow God to transform you.
(Joel 2:12-16) “Even now”, declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and morning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and bounding in love, and He relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing, grain offerings and drink offerings for the Lord your God. Blow your trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast , call a sacred assembly. Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber.
God is telling people to turn to Him while there is still time. Destruction would soon be upon them . Time will also run out for us one day. We don’t know when our life will end , we have to take this time to turn to God and serve Him, while we are still living. Life is temporary, all activities here on earth are temporary. Let us not allow anything we see here on earth to stop us from knowing God and worshiping Him. Don’t allow your wealth, your comfort zone, or your self-reliance keep you from turning your life to Christ.
God is not looking at our outward appearance, He is not looking for outward character, change of behaviors. For example every new year, we make new year resolutions, things we want to change, our shape, our diet, etc. God want us to have a total repentance from our sins. God doesn’t want an outward display of remorse without true inward repentance and a complete change of heart . (1 Samuel 16:7) But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider His appearance or His height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at . People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
Let us align our attitude to God’s character. Outward actions or rituals are not what move God’s favor, only when we have a humble heart, with genuine repentance that is what brings man into a relationship with God . Rend your hearts and not your garments. Joel’s preaching is still in effect today. God is always demanding that we should give our hearts to Him. (Psalm 51:17) “ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God , thou wilt not despise. The psalmist desired God to give Him a clean heart.
A clean heart is a heart of humility, a heart that desires the will of God. That is the kind of heart we need today to please God, to establish relationship with God. The world is going through God’s judgement, God wants us to come back to Him and ask Him to come and sanctify our hearts, if our hearts are not clean it will be impossible to see the glory of God in your life . He is still on His throne of mercy, asking us to surrender our lives to Him so that He will give us complete healing and restoration. Do not allow anything in this life to stop you from meeting Jesus today. He is still pleading to me and you. Remember life here on earth is temporary but heaven or hell is eternal. If death or raptures takes place today, where will you spend eternity? Jesus is coming soon.
Prayers: Oh God the father and the maker of heaven and earth, Help me to Surrender my life to you . Make me worthy to continually dwell in your Holy presence in Jesus name. Help me to have a humble and broken heart for your service in Jesus name.
